SIAS sponsors 8th US-China Diplomatic Dialogue in Guiyang

The 8th US-China Diplomatic Dialogue was held in Guiyang from October 16 to October 17, 2015. Mid-career diplomats from both countries had a candid, constructive and in-depth discussion on such issues as President Xi’s visit to the US, Sino-US cooperation on global governance, Sino-US security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, the American presidential election in 2016 and overall Sino-US relations.
Participants included Chinese delegates from the General Office, the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, the Policy Planning Department, the Department of International Economic Affairs, the Department of Personnel under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and American delegates from the US Embassy in China, as well as US Consulates-General in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenyang. The conference was moderated by Professor Wu Xinbo, President of SIAS, who is also Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, and by Peter Gries, Director of the University of Oklahoma's Institute for US-China Issues.
