The SIAS US Foreign Policy and NGO Research Center sets its agenda for 2016

Posted:2015-12-10

On December 8, 2015, the US Foreign Policy and NGO Research Center at the SIAS hosted a meeting to discuss the center’s work plan for 2016.

Participants at the meeting reviewed the center’s work since its establishment in April, and proposed the work priorities for 2016, particularly taking into account areas in need of improvement.

Fully aware of the challenges the understaffed center faces, the experts attending the meeting suggested we start with building a handy database and cultivating a team of experts.

It was also advised that we compile a book on American NGOs with a presence in China, containing a directory of such organizations and short bios of researchers in this field. In addition, we will create a column on NGO studies in our annual series Shanghai Review of American Studies, and encourage experts to contribute their research papers and reports.

The center plans to recruit a few more researchers next year, aiming to produce more high-quality research.
