On January 29, 2018, the SIAS jointly held a seminar on promoting public diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy in a new era, together with the Institute of History at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS). Participants analyzed the relationships among people-to-people diplomacy, public diplomacy, city diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges. They also shared their views on how to learn from past and present experience to further promote people-to-people diplomacy and public diplomacy in the future

The meeting was moderated by SIAS Executive Director Hu Hua. Academics and experts from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies（SIIS）, the SASS, Shanghai Public Diplomacy Association and Jiefang Daily attended the meeting.
