RUSI scholar Raffaello Pantucci speaks at SIAS

On April 26, 2018, Raffaello Pantucci, Director and senior fellow of International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), visited the SIAS and gave a lecture on current trends in global terrorism. Mr. Pantucci’s research focuses on counter-terrorism, tackling extremism as well as China’s relations with its Western neighbors. He has also held positions at the European Council of Foreign Relations (ECFR) and is an associate fellow at the International Center for the Study of Radicalization (ICSR) at King’s College, London.

In his lecture, Mr. Pantucci analyzed the spread of ISIS, Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups, the evolution of terrorist tactics, the future development of global terrorism and its implications. He also shared his views with those participated on the crisis in Syria and Afghanistan and the application of big data in counter-terrorism, among other hot-spot issues.

Academics from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) and Shanghai International Studies University joined the SIAS research staff at the meeting.
