On February 28, 2017, the SIAS cohosted a conference in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the Shanghai Communiqué. The event was aimed at taking “An Interactive Look at Sino-US Relations, New Trends and China’s Response”. 

Experts from the organizing parties and academics from local universities and other research institutes shared views on strategy and policy, regional security, regional economic cooperation and the Taiwan Issue, among other topics. 

Participants were adamant that adherence to the principles of the Shanghai Communiqué is fundamental for a healthy and stable development of China-US relations.

The event was organized by Shanghai Institutes for International Studies and Shanghai Association of International Relations. Other co-organizers included Shanghai Public Diplomacy Association and Wenhui Daily.
