Security expert Darko Trifunovic speaks at SIAS

On April 1, 2016, the Crisis Management and Anti-Terrorism Research Center at the SIAS invited Darko Trifunovic, PhD, expert on security studies from the University of Belgrade in Serbia, to give a lecture on “Europe’s New Security Challenges”.

In his lecture, Trifunovic shed light on the threats of terrorism currently facing Europe, the motives that trigger major terrorist attacks, the connection between terrorism and geopolitics, and some of the core issues in counter-terrorism studies. He also shared his experience in counter-terrorism studies and practices with the audience. 

Participants at the meeting exchanged points of view on topics like the de-radicalization measures in European countries, the foreign terrorists of ISIL, and the European refugee crisis. Experts from the Shanghai Counter-Terrorism Research Center, Shanghai International Studies University, Fudan University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, the Shanghai branch of the Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai Far East Publishers and the SIAS attended the lecture.
