SIAS hosts seminar on new international counter-terrorism trends in commemoration of 9/11

In the lead up to the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Crisis Management and Anti-Terrorism Research Center at the SIAS and the Center of West Asia and North African Studies at Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, co-hosted a symposium entitled “New International Counter-Terrorism Trends and Impacts on China” on September 10, 2016.

Scholars and other experts analyzed new trends and features of the global fight against terrorism. They also discussed the consequent impacts on China, Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia, while suggesting a number of precautions against international terrorist organizations. 

Wu Xinbo, President of the SIAS and Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, chaired the meeting. More than 20 academics from China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Fudan University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai International Studies University and Shanghai University attended the meeting. 

Local media, including Jiefang Daily’s online news portal Shanghai Observer, The Paper, and Shanghai Overseas Information, made special reports on the event.
