SIAS hosts 3rdMarine Salon in 2015 on South China Sea issue

On April 29, 2015, the SIAS hosted this year’s 3rd Marine Salon together with the Center for Oceans Strategy Studies of China at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS). The meeting took place at the Xuyang Hall in the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations.

SIAS Executive Director Hu Hua moderated the meeting, which focused on the history, cause, trends and impact of the South China Sea issue. Eleven experts presented speeches at the meeting, including: Sheng Jianhong, Deputy Director at the Office of Shanghai Chronicles; Liu Zhongmin, Director of the Middle East Studies Institute at the Shanghai International Studies University; Jin Yongming, Director of the Center for Oceans Strategy Studies of China, SASS; Cheng Hanping, Director of the Center for Southeast Asia Studies at the Chinese People's Liberation Army University of International Relations; Chen XiaolÜ, a director at the Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies; Niu Jusheng, Director of the Laos-Mekong Sub-Region Research Center, Suzhou University, and Ge Yuewei, Deputy Director of the International Security Research Room at the Institute of International Studies, SASS. Reporters from local media also attended the meeting.
